The Certification Track is a 2-year process you can complete anywhere in the world. Once you apply and enter the track, you will be matched with a Consultant who will help you master how to help couples create more significant meaning and connection in their relationships. You will expand and reinforce your understanding of Gottman Method Couples Therapy, building on everything you've learned through your training and clinical work. You must meet the following prerequisites in order to apply for the Certification Track:
- Completion of Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 Training (You will have a maximum of two years to enter the Certification Track following your Level 3 Training)
- Completion of two (2) of the three comorbidity courses
- Treating Affairs and Trauma
- Couples and Addiction Recovery
- Therapy for Partner Aggression and Abuse
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in a mental health field
- A minimum of 1000 hours of postgraduate therapy experience
- Licensure or certification in a mental health-related field*
- Malpractice Insurance ($1M per incident and $3M aggregate)
*Individuals must be able to provide therapy independent of a supervisor.
Note: Our training program does not include formal licensure but is meant to add to your education, professional training, and experience. You must also ensure that you meet the requirements set by the governing body of your state/country that allows you to provide mental health services to your community legally.
